Meerkat Mail - Wb 23rd April

We have been reading Meerkat Mail this week and writing our own post cards about our holidays. We are really enjoying finding out facts about meerkats ready to write a fact file next week.

Did you know the reason they stand on their back legs to show their tummies is so they can warm up quickly in the sun?

We also found out that they live up to 14 years in captivity and love to eat scorpions! Yuck!

This Summer We'll Be Going 'All Around The World' Starting With AFRICA!

We will be learning about the habitats and the animals that live in them. We will link this to science when we learn about food chains and life cycles of different animals too. We will also listen to African music and create our own dance movements along side.

Not only will the focus be on Africa, but we will be learning about the world continents in comparison to where the UK is and all about the 5 different oceans too.

Later this term we will touch on India as well and this will link to our RE and Art when we create Mandala patterns of our own.

So keep your eyes on our page to see what we will have been up to this term! smiley

We then looked at a story about a penguin who had problems when using the internet. We gave him advice on what to do in each situation - Talk To An Adult!

We also took a quiz about the internet and how it should be used. We worked hard to create pieces of work for display on this so others understand why asking permission and using the internet correctly is so important.

Friday 18th January

On Friday afternoon Miss Romanakova (our class LSA) brought her son Matyas in to meet us. In Science so far this term we have been learning about how human's grow from babies, to toddlers, into children and then adults. Matyas was the perfect role model for a toddler and had fun being fussed over and adored by class 2. We learnt that he can only say a few words and most of those are when he's asked to repeat them. He could pick up the toys to play with them and run around at full speed! We also questioned Miss Romanakova on what her pregnancy was like and what Matyas could do when he was first born. He has been a great case study for us and we have learnt lots of facts!

Welcome To Class 2!

We are raring to go in Class 2 this Autumn term with our topic: The Tragic Titanic. We can't wait to learn about the events of the Titanic, we will be writing stories and diary entries on the event, building boats ourselves using different materials and testing how well they float...or sink! We cannot wait :)

Children will be sent homework on a Monday which will be due the following Monday and spellings will be set on a Friday and tested the following Friday.

Please complete daily reading with your children, as at this age particularly it will help them with their spelling and imagination for writing too. Write the title of the book and the page number in their partnership books with a signature. This will then go towards our school Golden Ticket reward each term.

Thank you for all of your continued support,

We look forward to our first term of learning together :)
