Home Learning

    Home Learning

Each Monday your child will be given an exciting activity to complete at home. This work should be brought back into school, in the folder, by the following Monday. These activities are aimed at your child’s ability – not too challenging but certainly not too easy. At North Crescent we have a high expectation of your child becoming an independent and resilient learner. We hope your child will take ownership of their home learning, and enjoy it, with the expectation that the activity is back each Monday.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for your support.

Half Term Holiday Home Learning

Choose 1 or more of the ideas below for your half term holiday home learning:

  1. Research and write a fact file about Christopher Columbus or the Titanic voyage.
  2. Build the Santa Maria or the Titanic.
  3. Observe the different phases of the moon by recording it (drawing) each night of the holidays. (full moon , half moon etc..)
  4. In maths we have been learning rapid recall of number bonds to 10 and then applying this to other number bonds. Create a ‘number bond’ board game.
  5. In RE we have been looking at Special Places at home, in school, for Christians and for Muslims. Write a booklet about Special Places that you have visited during the holidays and say why or who the places are special to.
  6. Write a diary to record what you did whilst on your half term holiday.

The children are practising their number bonds at school. We are looking at the children knowing their number bonds to 10 by rapid recall. These number bonds can then be applied to bonds to 20 and more.

Draw or make a Hoctopize, an alien that lives in space.

(Character from Toys in Space book by Mini Grey)

Tell me all about your Hoctopize.(If you need an adult to write your ideas down that is ok) If your Hoctopize came alive, what would it be like?

Describe your Hoctopize to me.

What does it look like?

Is it a good or bad character? Explain how you know.

What does it like to eat?

Does the Hoctopize have any friends?

What does your Hoctopize like doing?

Is your Hoctopize happy or sad? Why?

What could you do to help your Hoctopize?

Does the Hoctopize have a family? What are they like? Where do they live?
