Part One
There are many different feelings that we can experience.
Some of these feelings are good feelings e.g. happy
Some of these feelings are not so good feelings e.g. scared.
It is ok for us to experience both types of feelings and it is good to talk to somebody about all of the feelings we have so they can help us.
Activity One
Do you remember Maz the alien?
Can you help him to sort these feelings by copying the feelings words onto a piece of paper and drawing a smiley face next to words that are good feelings and a sad
face next to words that are not so good feelings. If you are unsure you could put a question mark '?' next to the word.
Here are the feelings words (you can add some of your own too):
scared
happy
comfortable
upset
embarrassed
worried
confident
jealous
calm
ashamed
uncomfortable
sad
excited
angry
nervous
confused
bored
silly
lonely
grumpy
proud
Activity Two
Imagine you are Maz the alien.
Can you choose a word from our list, or one of your own, to explain how you think Maz would feel in the different scenarios below.
1. Maz eating sweets.
2. Maz being in the dark.
3. Maz being told off.
4. Maz cuddling his teddy.
5. Maz going to a birthday party.
6. Maz having his own birthday party.
7. Maz getting wet in the rain.
8. Maz being away from his family.
9. Maz seeing a spider.
10. Maz hearing his favourite song.
11. Maz going to the funfair.
12. Maz not being able to use his computer.
13. Maz playing in the garden when the sun is shining.
Can you think of ways that you could help Maz with his 'good' and 'not so good' feelings? Perhaps you know that sometimes you get very excited and you might need someone to help you calm down or maybe you are feeling lonely and you might need someone to spend some time with you.
