PE and Sport Premium

PE is a highly valued area of the curriculum and one that is continually developing and improving. We have recently been awarded the School Games Silver kitemark and the Youth Sports Trust’s Silver Quality Mark award and continue to strive toward the Gold Mark. Children have access to at least 2 hours of PE within curriculum time and there are clubs for all age groups running from Monday to Friday after school. Areas of PE studied include games, dance, gymnastics, athletics, multi-skills and outdoor, adventurous activities, and swimming. Many opportunities are provided to receive specialist sports coaching, for example, Gymnastic, tennis, and Dodgeball. Children in Key Stage 2 also have swimming lessons at a nearby pool. We have a varied and exciting range of clubs after school for all age ranges. These include Football, Tennis, Dodgeball, Dance, multi-sport, Gymnastics, and Hockey. Clubs are either run by teachers or carefully chosen outside providers such as Elite sports coaching and Jack of All Sports. We have had a link with Southend United this has meant that we are the first choice to access schemes they run we also get a similar service with Chelsea Football Club. We have strong links with local sports teams such as Essex royals, Wickford Town Football, Wickford Knights basketball club, Rochford and District swimming club, Basildon swimming club, and Ultima Trampoline Club these links give our children the to pursue a different sport further than school. We also have a strong link with the Bromfords Schools through the School Sports Partnership scheme. Our participation in the School Sports partnership enables us to build up valuable contacts that mean that our children can also access: Bikeability training Archery lessons Tri-golf coaching Tennis lessons Entry into inter-school competitions such as sports hall athletics, mini-tennis, tri-golf, archery, football, mountain biking, basketball, cross country, rounders, and festivals such as the winter, summer games and tennis for Key Stage 1 children. We try and aim to enter as many as possible to give all children a chance to represent the school We also have a strong link with the Essex FA where our children get a chance to take part in level 3 football Cup competitions As well as the above, we take part in inter-school competitions with local schools through our participation in football and netball leagues and the District Sports event
