The Accidental Show
Looking for Saturday morning fun! Check out the link below:

We would like our pupils and families to participate in a project, which will combine visuals, words and music. North Crescent and local schools (who are part of the SEE Creative network group) want to make a positive video. During a challenging time a creative collaboration that looks and reaches outward, might be just what we need.

Local author, Grant Strong, came to visit us and share his new book Running Deep. Classes heard readings from the book; talked about genres of stories and inspiration for writing. It was very interesting to listen to him talk and share his experiences as a writer. At the end of his visit he signed copies of his book, for the children and staff.
Netball team 10.03.2020
Netball, where do I start! The team was amazing winning 4, drawing 1 and only loosing once! It’s the best we have ever done as a school and without any practice!
Well done team!
Mr.Baker
Everyone jumped into and out of the pages of books - new and old this week. Thank you to everyone, who bought books from our book fair: every penny you spent will be recouped as a fund for us to spend on new books for school.
World book day, itself was a riot of colour and characters. The children and staff had a brilliant day, full of reading-inspired activities.
Congratulations to the winners of the Book Fair raffle!
What a display from the team winning 5-3. It was such a great game. We went 2-0 up only for Wyburns to came back to lead 3-2. We worked really hard to come back on a hard pitch! Well done everyone. great effort! first of many victories in the league!
Mr.Baker
Where do I start? Our sense were filled with the festivities. Burgers and hot dogs were washed down with gallons of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Father Christmas had a long queue of patient, good little children, all waiting to ask for their Christmas wish. Bears, games, a generous raffle and gifts galore. Stalls with crafts, games and treats were made by each of our classes, who showed their creativity and enterprise to raise money. Thank you all of the children, families and staff, who it all possible. It was certainly not a Silent Night!
Year 3+4 Football team
Wow, what a performance! Drawing 3, winning 1 and loosing 1. As PE lead I was very pleased with the performance in my absence. Like Mrs Clark said “who needs Mr Baker” Well done team.
The whole school, staff and families joined together in celebration of Harvest time, to give thanks for what we have and to remember those in our community that are not as fortunate as ourselves. Food and toiletries donated at school, will go to the local food bank, which is used regularly by as many as 40 local families.
The children read poems and sang beautifully. We even had some pupils who are studying the piano, play for us and pupils representing the School Council and Eco Warriors, wrote and lead a prayer at the end.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank our host Rev Canon Jane, who will be retiring at the end of November - she has been a close friend and colleague of North Crescent, for many, many years and will be missed in the local community. Wishing her a long and well-deserved rest.
Donations to the Gateway Project, can be made all year round. For details follow the link.

Where do I start? We may not have won a game and snuck a few draws. But the girls where brilliant considering none of the team had ever played competitive football before. As the tournament went on they really grew in confident. I was so impressed and was buzzing by the end. Next time we will definitely get a win! Well done girls, #girl-power

We used our right to a voice and used the precious British value of democracy, to campaign and vote for representatives for School Council; Eco Warriors and Sport's Ambassadors. Class 6, supported the other year groups to vote and had the massive responsibility to count the ballots.
Congratulations to our winners and thanks to the children, who put themselves forward and the staff, who organised the administration.
How many Oompha-loomphas does it take to change a lightbulb?
One to change the lightbulb, and a hundred to sing a song about it!
Across the school was a sea of weird and wonderful character costumes, worn by children and staff, inspired by the illustrations and more importantly the writing of a very special and dear British author - Roald Dahl.
To celebrate his posthumous birthday, every class took part in creative activities, which culminated in reading outdoors with staff, classmates and families. See class pages for details.
Thank you to the children, families and staff, who made the day such fun.
How many Oompha-loomphas does it take to change a lightbulb?
One: to doopha-di-do it!
What a smashing day! Every smile; every cheer; every race run - made everybody, who took part a winner.
Thank you to all of the children, who were the best they could be.
Thank you to all of the families, who were there to cheer-on the children.
Big thanks to Mr Baker, the team of staff and Sport's Ambassadors, who made the day possible.
Thank you Mr Blue-sky, who came out greet us.

These lucky people had their names drawn to win a £10 W H Smith's voucher.
Congratulations and keep on reading.
Sit back and take in the talented finalists, voted for their classes. You'll smile, you'll shed a tear, you'll gasp - but most importantly you'll be entertained.
Well done to everyone who stepped up to perform in class or in the final. Thank you to our judges and audience, who sat beautifully.
The perfect way to end the Spring term! Signing off, until next year...
We hosted the second meeting of the local arts network, welcoming colleagues from schools far and near, where we discussed the success criteria for an arts week in schools. In addition, the key note speaker was from Signals, a creative technology workshop and outreach organisation, from Colchester.

A group from KS2 spent many rehearsals to get ready for this annual event. The sun was shining, and lots and lots of pupils and their families gathered to watch each performance: Wickford Jnr; Church of England; Hilltop Infants; Hilltop Jnr; North Crescent; Grange; Abacus; Oakfield; Crays Hill; Runwell Community and our hosts Bromfords.
I was so proud of our children, who practised and practised, and despite feeling nervous threw themselves into their dance.
Thank you to our families, who supported us to have a full dance troupe ready and willing to perform - travelling from all over Wickford and further afield - without your time and encouragement the event would not of been possible.
What a busy, exciting, sunny day! We shared Royal Wedding themed activities with our own classes and swapped with other year groups to spread the love. Meanwhile, Mr Baker took a group of keen footballers to Roots Hall (home of Southend United) to compete in a friendly tournament. But not only that, we hosted more than 500 family members to join us for a picnic lunch and afternoon of games and music - the sandwiches, ice-cream, smiles and laughter flowed.
Thanks to all of our guests, pupils and staff who made it such a success.
🌞💕👑🍦
Class 6S and 6G came 337th and 424th out of over a thousand classes nationally.
Well done to all of our high scorers this week! Some of our classes finished in the top 10 of 82 classes and we had several pupils in the top 50 pupils out of more than 600, who took part across Essex. North Crescent is top-dog at Sumdog!
15-3-18 Science Day
On Thursday 15th March we spent the whole day taking part in science lessons around the school to celebrate National Science Week. Each teacher delivered a science lesson that was linked to their specialist subject. Mrs Barber taught science through computing using the Beebots, Miss Whitwell taught a science investigation using scientific thinking when our potions erupted, Miss Couchman taught science through humanities allowing the children to make their own volcanic explosion using Coca-Cola and mento mints, Mrs Dolphin taught science through music by creating drums with the children, Mrs Taylor taught science through art using skittles to create a rainbow of colour, Mr Alexander taught science through PE by conducting an experiment that measured heart rate, Mrs Kaufman taught science through PSHE by experimenting with different liquids to stop the wave in the 'sea', Mrs Strange taught science through geography by filtering dirty water to make it pure and Mrs Green taught science through literacy by linking an experiment to the Three Billy Goats Gruff.
We had a day full of 'Wow' moments as the children worked with peers from other classes to ask questions, solve problems and use critical thinking to prove their findings.
Well done NCPS!
What a fantastic day we had! The children were brilliant - as they always are! We sang and danced our hearts out, and we rocked the O2. My personal highlights were Africa, All together Now and Singing Together. We really enjoyed the performances of the artists on stage as well including The Magnets, Alfie Sheard and my favourite bit - Urban Strides doing Star Wars! We are all delightfully exhausted and looking forward to the DVD so we can relive the whole experience again. Thank you to the families who were able to come along and support and a special thank you to Miss W for all her hard work since September. Roll-on 2 year’s time for our next trip!
Mrs M
We performed our socks off. The children were so engaged, friendly and confident - we were very proud
Today we had a very special visitor at school. A ‘big rig’, monster truck landed on our playground! All of the children came to have a look and listened to the very loud horn.
We then used this amazing experience as an inspiration for our first Big Write! 😎
We were delighted to welcome the Right Honourable Mark Francois MP to join us as Returning Officer for our Election Day.
After some ferocious campaigning, the atmosphere as the winners were announced was electric! Congratulations to our new Junior Governors, Eco-Warriors and Sports Ambassadors!
Finally, thank you all for your terrific fundraising efforts with Jeans for Genes. We will let you know how much we raised after the count!
PS Check out our new walls in the background - aren't they fab?!!
